An der Schönen Blauen Donau (Crisis 2012)

Our Donau game staged at Crisis 2012 was something special: the players did not command any troops, but played through a card-driven system all the flotsam and jetsam that the Austrians threw into the Donau during the battle of Aspern-Essling in 1809, in the hope of destroying the French pontoon bridges crossing the river.

The game and design was fully described in Miniature Wargames with Battlegames, issue 365 (September 2013).

Here are some documents:
  • Text as submitted to Miniature Wargames with Battlegames. For the edited and published version, you'll need to find a backcopy.
  • Flyer (Dutch), that was handed out to the participants.
  • Game cards. For the frequency of the cards needed to compose a playing deck, please refer to the article mentioned above.
